Scenery : Theatrical Backdrops and Painted Sets
Forgive the multiple photo collages, many of these jobs predate digital photography, the earliest starting in 1991.
Most of these are very large backdrops on muslin, in the 60-80 feet across range.
I painted backdrops at Peter Wolf Company starting in 1991, then was the scenic charge and lead painter there from approximately 1995-2001. If backdrops are not prepared properly, they will not last very long, or hang straight. I make mine in the union approved time tested way, using high quality muslin, and high quality scenic paint that is formulated to adhere to fabric.

I was commissioned in 2013 to paint a brand new backdrop for the Shreveport Scottish Rite Lodge to replace their show drop which had become damaged and aged since it was painted sometime in the 1920's.
I made a meticulous rendering, and used extensive photographs and color chips from the original drop to replicate a piece of Scottish Rite history.
